Fattoria di Maiano, origins back to the 15th century, is situated in a panoramic scenery on the green hills between Fiesole (just 2,5 km) and Firenze (just 5 km)

A completely organic agricultural estate, Fattoria di Maiano covers an area of nearly 300 hectares mainly used for growing olives (20.000 olive trees on 110 hectares). Frantoio and Moraiolo olives, are picked entirely by hand in the months of November and December, then pressed in the estate mill. The premium product is Laudemio, an excellent extra virgin oil with a high nutritional value.

Accommodations are offered in apartments located within the estate. Originally they were ancient rustic homesteads and former convent buildings. Recently renovated with particular attention to the architectural style, the apartments are authentic country dwellings in terms of style, peace and panoramic views.

During summer, guests can enjoy the lovely swimming pool, located in the gardens of Fattoria, overlooking a truly matchless view on the surrounding countryside. There is also nice programme of activities to choose from: the teaching farm, art and restoration class, Villa di Maiano and Olive Mill guided tours, tastings and discovery tours of Tuscany, night safari.

In the very heart of Fattoria di Maiano is situated the 15th century Chiostro (cloister) and the impressive fresco Madonna della Misericordia by Spinello Aretino. Next to the cloister you will find: Sala del Convitto, the former convent refectory and Sala Olivaia, an ancient olive storage room. The two halls and the cloister are now settings for business meetings, parties, anniversaries, food and olive oil tastings.

In the middle of the estate you can find Lo Spaccio our delicatessen shop, a corner of flavour where you can taste typical Tuscan delicatessen.The shop, outfitted with a panoramic terrace and cosy rooms wooden furnished inside with a charming fireplace, everyday open you can have breakfast, lunch, grill meat, tastings and direct market of typical genuine products.

Walking through the olive grove, you will easily reach Villa di Maiano, the main house of Fattoria di Maiano that look on to the entire estate. Villa di Maiano has been the set for numerous films including: Tea with Mussolini by Franco Zeffirelli and A Room with a View by James Ivory. It has all the private residence features :magnificent rooms (Tapestries Room, Red Lounge, Old Dining Room, Carriage Room and Billiard Room) with original decor and furnishings, a large terrace overlooking Florence and the Italian garden. Villa di Maiano is now rented in exclusive for every event.

Surface: 300 ha Olive grove: 108ha Olive plants: 20.000 Range: Frantoio and Moraiolo (60%-40%) Harvest time: from the end of October until December , before the most suitable ripening date. Olives are harvested entirely by direct hand picking of the fruit from the plant Extraction: cold olive pressing in the olive-mill of the farm within 6/12 hours by the picking time. The extraction system is the continuos cycle type with an olive-press with disks and double centrifugal separator. We don’t use hot water. Conservation: in airtight steel drums of different size (from 10 to 50 quintals), separating the different lots (it depends on the origin of the estate and on the picking period).
